NEW DELHI: Shares of Ashok Leyland wiped off intial losses and were trading nearly 1 per cent up at Rs 111.65 apiece on BSE around 10:55 am on Thursday.The scrip had come under pressure after the government brought in new axle norms for load carrying capacity which experts said could hurt demand for commercial vehicles.The load carrying capacities of heavy vehicles, including trucks, have been increased by 20-25 per cent at par with global standards, PTI reported on Wednesday, quoting Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.On Wednesday, the stock plunged almost 14 per cent to settle at Rs 110.60 on BSE.Equity benchmarks were cautious amid mixed Asian cues. Rupee also weakened against the US dollar while oil prices rose in global markets.Vedanta, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

NEW DELHI: Shares of Kolkata-based Bandhan Bank jumped nearly 3 per cent to hit its 52-week high of Rs 618 on BSE in Thursday's session.Shares of the company got traction after it reported on Wednesday a 47.5 per cent rise in its net profit for the June quarter to Rs 482 crore.Net interest income (NII) went up 39 per cent to Rs 1,037 crore against Rs 743.48 crore in the year-ago period.PTI reported, quoting MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, that the lender would complete three years of operations in August, and continue to focus on micro-credit financing as it has been its forte.Shares of the company were trading 2.14 per cent up at Rs 613 apiece around 10:45 am. The BSE Sensex was 0.11 per cent up at 36,415 around that time.Equity benchmarks were cautious amid mixed Asian cues. Auto stocks: Stock market update: M&M, Tata Motors keep auto index in the green

NEW DELHI: Auto stocks were trading mixed during the afternoon session on Thursday.However, gains in Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) (up 1.36 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.01 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (up 0.84 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.53 per cent) were keeping the sectoral index in the green.The BSE Auto index was trading 0.36 per cent up at 24,223 around 01:10 pm.Shares of MRF (up 0.52 per cent), Bosch (up 0.43 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.32 per cent) and Apollo Tyres (up 0.17 per cent) were also up. However, Eicher Motors (up 0.05 per cent) and Cummins India (up 0.05 per cent) were almost flat around that time.Meanwhile, Bharat Forge (down 2.09 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 1.58 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 0.42 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 0.31 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 0.15 per cent) and Exide Industries (down 0.10 per cent) were incurring losses.Equity benchmarks were trading nearly flat as gains in select bank, auto, FMCG and metal stocks were offset by losses in select financial, IT and capital goods stocks.Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 46 points at 36,420, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 6 points at 10,974.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.In the Sensex index, 20 stocks were advancing, while 11 were declining.Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank and YES Bank were leading among the Sensex gainers.However, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC and Tata Steel were among the top losers in the Sensex index.
