FISHERS FERRY — Students from local schools who spent 10 weeks learning about investing experienced a real-life investment story during the annual Stock Market Challenge celebration luncheon on Thursday. Winning effortsThe Stock Market Challenge operates in 38 counties through the Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy and partners with a number of universities. Among the local competitions is that involving Line Mountain, Lourdes, Mount Carmel Area and Shamokin Area, sponsored by Sunbury Motor Co. and The News-Item. Shamokin Area won the high school division this year, ending with $145,287, and Lourdes was the middle school winner with a school best return of $123,795. Mount Carmel Area students were unable to attend the luncheon because of other activities.
