US stock market opens higher

Jas Bagniewski, his cousin Kuba Wieczorek and friend James Fryer's online mattress firm Eve Sleep yesterday raised £35million, despite never having made a profit. Three friends who wanted to invent a bouncier mattress for sex have launched their start-up on to the stock market in a £140million flotation. About 15pc of customers return their mattress within the 100-day trial period. The company made £12million in revenue last year, attracting shoppers by offering free delivery, and free pick-up and return within 100 days if customers didn't like the mattress. 'We have developed a foam that is bouncier and cooler, which makes it nicer to sleep on.'

The Dow added 66 points to begin trading at 20,963 and the S&P 500 increased by 6 points to 2,397 points. After Saudi Arabia and Russia agreed to extend their oil production limitation agreement until March next year, crude prices jumped by around 3 percent on Monday. The Nasdaq increased 13 points to start the day at 6,134 points. At the opening bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate went up 3.1 percent to reach $49.40 a barrel; international benchmark Brent crude was trading at $52.35 per barrel -- a 2.9 percent gain.
