Crude oil prices rose Tuesday after OPEC said it would pursue stricter compliance to its quotas. The Dow gained 118.95 points or 0.6 percent to 20,743.00, while the NASDAQ rose 27.37 points or 0.5 percent to 5,895.95 and the S&P added 14.22 points or 0.6 percent to 2,365.38. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. markets were up - and the Asian bourses figure to follow the latter lead.

The Thai stock market on Tuesday wrote a finish to the four-day winning streak in which it had gathered just 6 points or 0.4 percent. The Stock Exchange of Thailand now rests just beneath the 1,565-point plateau, although the market may find renewed support on Wednesday. The global forecast for the Asian is firm thanks to upbeat earnings news and a spike in the price of crude oil. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. markets were up - and the Asian bourses figure to follow the latter lead.
